Then and Now #10 - Livingston County Courthouse

📍The Livingston County Courthouse, located at 700 Webster Street, was constructed between 1913-14🏗️. The building has many impressive classical details such as the large columns (pilasters) along each façade🏛️. It was the fourth courthouse in the county and the second on that site. The first on this location was constructed in the 1840s and torn down by 1865🕰️. Many buildings around downtown hosted court proceedings⚖️ in the interim period between the demolition of the third courthouse and the construction of the current courthouse. The construction of the current courthouse faced significant pushback 📢 from those that wanted to preserve the area the forested Elm Park🌳though it eventually went ahead, and the courthouse has stood on the site now for over 100 years🎉.
