Then and Now #11 - S. Palmer Building

📍The S. Palmer Building, located at 720 Washington Street, was constructed around the 1890s based on information from the Chillicothe Sanborn maps of 1890-1896 🗺️. Originally made up of a group of three storefronts🏪 with matching oriel windows🪟 on the second story, today only two of the original storefronts are still intact, retaining a significant amount of their original details🏛️, especially around the upper story windows and along the roofline. Mr. S. Palmer moved to Chillicothe with his wife in 1871, owning a tin shop during their time in town. A number of businesses have occupied the space such as the Coolerator Company selling refrigerators in the mid 1930s. By the 1950s, Chillicothe Radio and T.V. Service used the building and in 1967 it was used as a city Republican Party headquarters. A decade later, a furniture repair shop moved in. Today, Downtown Nutrition operates out of the space.
