Then and Now #5 - Grace Episcopal Church
📍Grace Episcopal Church⛪ was originally constructed between 1867-9. It was a prefabricated building🧱 assembled based on the plans of St. Louis architect J. Beattie🏗️. Chillicothe had by that point been part of a traveling circuit of Episcopal preachers in the region for around a decade and services had mostly taken place in private residences🏡and Platter Hall. Charles Deacon🙏, one of the traveling preachers, set in motion the construction of a permanent location for the congregation around 1858. The building's exterior itself is fairly modest, containing elements common to early English Gothic structures, today it remains a wonderful example of that style.
