Then and Now #18 - People's Trust Building (State Bank)

πŸ“ The People's Trust Building, at 600 Washington Street πŸ›οΈ, was originally constructed around the early 1910s πŸ—οΈ. Previously the property was the home of a handful of other stores πŸ§₯πŸ’Š, primarily a clothing store and a pharmacy. The Chillicothe State Bank 🏦 was created around the mid 1930s πŸ“† and has occupied this building for most of its existence πŸ•°οΈ. The second story of the structure has also seen a handful of other professionals renting offices from State Bank πŸ§‘β€πŸ’ΌπŸ—‚οΈ, primarily professionals in the real estate 🏘️ and insurance πŸ’Ό industries. During the 1950s and 1960s the basement of the building hosted the Rumpus Room, a popular teen hang-out spot. By the 1970s, it became a Christian youth center known as His Place. Throughout the 1950s and 1960s especially πŸ“†, the building went through numerous renovations πŸ”§ such as the addition of a drive through πŸš— on the west side of the building in 1954 πŸ“… and a complete remodel of the interior πŸ›‹οΈ and facade 🧱 in 1966. πŸ“…
