Then and Now #18 - People's Trust Building (State Bank)
π The People's Trust Building, at 600 Washington Street ποΈ, was originally constructed around the early 1910s ποΈ. Previously the property was the home of a handful of other stores π§₯π, primarily a clothing store and a pharmacy. The Chillicothe State Bank π¦ was created around the mid 1930s π and has occupied this building for most of its existence π°οΈ. The second story of the structure has also seen a handful of other professionals renting offices from State Bank π§βπΌποΈ, primarily professionals in the real estate ποΈ and insurance πΌ industries. During the 1950s and 1960s the basement of the building hosted the Rumpus Room, a popular teen hang-out spot. By the 1970s, it became a Christian youth center known as His Place. Throughout the 1950s and 1960s especially π, the building went through numerous renovations π§ such as the addition of a drive through π on the west side of the building in 1954 π and a complete remodel of the interior ποΈ and facade 𧱠in 1966. π
