Then and Now #18 - People's Trust Building (State Bank)

📍 The People's Trust Building, at 600 Washington Street 🏛️, was originally constructed around the early 1910s 🏗️. Previously the property was the home of a handful of other stores 🧥💊, primarily a clothing store and a pharmacy. The Chillicothe State Bank 🏦 was created around the mid 1930s 📆 and has occupied this building for most of its existence 🕰️. The second story of the structure has also seen a handful of other professionals renting offices from State Bank 🧑‍💼🗂️, primarily professionals in the real estate 🏘️ and insurance 💼 industries. During the 1950s and 1960s the basement of the building hosted the Rumpus Room, a popular teen hang-out spot. By the 1970s, it became a Christian youth center known as His Place. Throughout the 1950s and 1960s especially 📆, the building went through numerous renovations 🔧 such as the addition of a drive through 🚗 on the west side of the building in 1954 📅 and a complete remodel of the interior 🛋️ and facade 🧱 in 1966. 📅
