Then and Now #21 - Silver Moon Plaza

πŸ“ 707 Webster Street, now the location of Silver Moon Plaza πŸŒ™βœ¨, was originally constructed in approximately 1925 πŸ—οΈ on the site of a previous building 🧱. Previous to that was an older building 🏚️ that seems to have been there since the earliest available Sanborn maps πŸ—ΊοΈ. The 1925 building was demolished after severe structural damage was uncovered during renovations 🚧, making way for the creation of Silver Moon Plaza to begin in 2008 πŸ“†. It was constructed as part of the DREAM (Downtown Revitalization and Economic Assistance for Missouri) Initiative πŸ’‘. The DREAM Initiative brought more funding πŸ’° to downtown Chillicothe 🏘️ by bringing together various state and regional development organizations 🏒🀝 for downtown improvements πŸ› οΈ. Silver Moon Plaza revitalized what otherwise may have remained an empty lot 🚫 in a prime area along the square 🟩. The site has brought measurable value πŸ“ˆ to the downtown district as an event space πŸŽ‰.
