Hometown Hospital, National Honor: The University of Kansas Health System Paola Named a Vizient Top Performer

We're proud to share that our member, The University of Kansas Health System Paola, has been named a 2026 Top Performer by Vizient, earning a spot in the small community hospital category of Vizient's Bernard A. Birnbaum, MD, Quality Leadership Award. The national honors were announced on September 24.

Vizient's annual Quality and Accountability Study compares hospitals across six areas: safety, mortality, effectiveness, efficiency, patient centeredness and variation in care. Paola was one of 24 hospitals nationwide recognized in the small community hospital group, alongside its sister campus in Great Bend.

For a town our size, that's something to celebrate. It means the care our neighbors receive right here at home measures up to the very best small community hospitals in the country.

Recognition like this comes down to the physicians, nurses and staff who show up for their patients every single day. Congratulations to the whole team in Paola!
