City of Augusta Announces Planned Overnight Power Outage for Critical Grid Repairs

Augusta — City Manager Josh Shaw announces that the City will conduct a planned,

citywide power outage later this month to complete necessary repairs to the main

electrical tie. The work will require a full grid shutdown and cannot be completed while the

system is energized.

The outage is scheduled to occur the night of Wednesday, March 18 into the early hours

of Thursday March 19 from approximately midnight to 2:00 AM OR Wednesday, March 25

into the early hours of Thursday, March 26, contingent upon weather conditions. Repairs

are anticipated to take two hours or less.

These repairs are critical to maintaining the reliability and safety of Augusta’s electric

system. Performing the work overnight is intended to minimize disruption to residents and

businesses.

Residents and business owners are encouraged to:

  • Make any necessary arrangements in advance of the outage.
  • Plan for temporary power loss lasting up to two hours.
  • Check backup power systems, alarms, and sensitive electronic equipment.
  • Help notify neighbors, family members, and others who may not receive this

          announcement directly.

Additional reminders and confirmation of the exact outage date will be shared closer to the

scheduled repair, once weather conditions are confirmed.

The City appreciates the community’s patience and cooperation as we complete this

essential infrastructure work. For questions or additional information, please contact the

City of Augusta at (316) 775-4510.
